FRIDAY - The results

After achieving a majority of 6 seats, the Blue party won our election.

Year 1 was a tied seat and this was settled by a game of rock, paper, scissors which the Red party won.

The voter turnout in the whole school was 86%.

The votes share shows some of the potential unfairness around the 'first-past-the-post' voting system. The Blue party achieved a vote share of 66%, almost exactly two-thirds of the vote. They won 6 of 8 seats - which is 75% of the seats. The only reason they didn't win 7 seats (87.5% of the vote) was because of a tie-breaker that went in Red's favour.
