Footprints in the Ground (Track the footprints of animals near you)

Maasai, like Sokai, know the tracks of every type of animal that live in the countryside around them. They use these footprints to know where animals that are dangerous to them and their cows might be. Learn the skills of Maasai by looking around you when you next walk around your garden or local area. What animal prints can you see and which animals do they belong to?
Activity
Go for a walk around your garden or local area, keeping an eye out for animal tracks. Once you find one, check the tracks on the animal footprint guide to see which animal it belongs to and record your observations on the nature detective's evidence sheet. How many different animals can you track?

Challenge

Follow these instructions to make a plaster cast of any animal tracks that you find.
