Beatrix Potter (Keep a wildlife diary of the birds in your back garden)

Many great authors spend time observing people/animals so that when they write about them in their books they can describe them in a really realistic way. By the age of 8, Beatrix Potter was already studying and recording animals, birds and insects in a home made sketch book.

Activity

Keep your own wildlife journal of the birds, insects and animals that you find in your back garden or on a walk. Draw a picture and write words to describe how they look and move. You can also write what they were doing and how you felt when you saw them.

Challenge

Learn more about one of the birds in your garden and create an information text. (See Factoids page for more information).
